Precisely my experience with Roon version 2.65. No difference in sound quality than before; no improvement. Posted on Roon forums about the frustration this update has brought. I got such a hiding.
Roon Issues - Not able to play certain tracks
I have been running into this issue when Roon is in the radio mode where spontaneously it runs into a track it can’t play. It just sits there trying to play it.
When I go to that album and attempt to manually play that same track on Qobuz the result is the same - it won’t play. Plays other tracks from the albums just fine.
If I go back to Roon radio and skip that track the next song is played no issues.
No such problems with Tidal.
I have rebooted the Roon Nucleus One, rebooted my network, rebooted my DAC.
Even signed out of streaming services and signed back in. No bueno. This is in addition to it being sluggish and requiring an almost daily reboot to maintain sound quality and proper operating speed. Now this…
Anyone else with this problem?

@audphile1 Yup much improved after maddening weeks of crud ( stronger cuss words implied). |
@wsrrsw yes I have finally spent some time listening. Sound quality seems to have improved! I’m going to do some more listening and comparing to jplay but so far so good! |
It’s been several Roon updates since my last post. The issues are back. Performance is slow - nucleus one had trouble displaying artwork when browsing albums, searching was painfully slow. Sound quality was wooly and rolled off. The Nucleus was on for about a week non stop prior to this. After a reboot the performance improved. But I went with jplay for that listening session. As I suspected, one of the Roon updates they pushed is now causing issues. At least for me. Sucks that it’s inconsistent and they can’t make right. |
