Should AI generated posts be banned or otherwise regulated?

I just wonder. 

At least, when I start a new thread, I am expecting other people's opinions.  I can get my own AI response so I am not sure why others would repeat what I can do myself. 

If someone were to have access to some better AI than I have access to, I guess that would be useful info I could not otherwise get.  But in general, I wonder why posters think responding with AI content is useful to someone who can get that directly themselves.

I don't put much stock in AI answers, but its fine for a super-duper search engine. With that said, we don't need censorship. I suspect most folks are pretty good at skipping long, AI generated stuff.

True, but why do we have to be bothered? It's like saying, most folks are pretty good at sidestepping vomit puddles and dog turds 😃

@devinplombier 😀i get your point, so delicately made. I’d be perfectly happy to not deal with these long AI messages but some of our colleagues seem to like them and a ban seems a little harsh.

Don't ban AI, but maybe , it should be identified so that the reader or user can make the decision to cross check if the answer doesn't sound right or just make sure it's accurate. Mistakes have been made, but it gets better as it goes.

Some AGRs are quite interesting.

  • ASR bans people from saying “DACs sound different”;
  • AGR does not ban Amir from claiming that “all DACs sound the same” here
  • some AGRs want to ban AI because it sometimes gets things wrong just like these AGRs themselves.

Isn’t that funny?  Is there something wrong with AI or these AGRs?
