I turn off my CD transport and subwoofer when I’m not using them, my preamp and amps stay on standby and so does my streamer (I think). The only thing that stays on 24/7 is my DAC that uses +- 20 watts.
What kills me is heating and cooling.
Earth Day, turn those amps OFF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Earth Day, turn those amps OFF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I've said it before, I'll say it again, it is Environmentally IRRESPONSIBLE to leave your equipment on for long periods of time, before or after, or truly despicable, ON all the time!
On, 20 mins, listen, done, off!
Doctors, Lawyers, Trust Fund Kiddos, come on now.
Where were you in 1970?, I was there in Manhattan (went to college at Pratt in Brooklyn 1966-1970)

@lewm No. Although the timeline just about dovetails. Sad Story. "Fell in love with a teacher." A lot of that back then. That's her on "Lebanese Blonde". Never knew. |
Those of you worried about Class A amps' energy cost, all you have to do is skip one domestic airline flight and you could run your amp for nearly 7 years, 2 hours a day. Domestic flight (~1000 mi): 1609 km × 246 g CO₂/km = 396 kg CO₂ Class A amp (300W): 1,501 kWh ÷ 0.3 kW = 5,003 hours
