Earth Day, turn those amps OFF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I turn off my CD transport and subwoofer when I’m not using them, my preamp and amps stay on standby and so does my streamer (I think). The only thing that stays on 24/7 is my DAC that uses +- 20 watts.

 What kills me is heating and cooling.

If you were in the 60 s you dont rember it. Class d is comming of age. D sonic is a Pascal module 1500 in 8 2400 in 4. Smsl pa gan class d mo o 500 watts 600$  no heat.enjoy the music cuz you can leave it on all  the time and the music.

Waste is just Waste. 

Everything, especially our grandchildren, suffer from our bad choices.

This is common sense (and basic physics, chemistry & biology).

Don't be greedy or arrogant - each of us should do better. 

Earth Day is just a reminder of the bigger picture.

Those of you worried about Class A amps' energy cost, all you have to do is skip one domestic airline flight and you could run your amp for nearly 7 years, 2 hours a day.

Domestic flight (~1000 mi):

1609 km × 246 g CO₂/km = 396 kg CO₂
396 kg CO₂ ÷ 3.15 kg CO₂/kg fuel = 125.7 kg jet fuel
125.7 kg × 43 MJ/kg = 5,405 MJ = 1,501 kWh

Class A amp (300W):

1,501 kWh ÷ 0.3 kW = 5,003 hours
5,003 hours ÷ 2 hrs/day = 2,500 days ≈ 6.8 years
