Sonus faber - Amati suprema?

Anybody heard this very expensive speaker? Is it that much better than the Amati G5?

SF has always been among the pricier brands, but also the most desirable. I would love to own a pair.

I’m intrigued by the super tweeter on the supreme.

Also the Lillium has tremendous bass and probably would likely overwhelm a typical room of 17 x 22 with 8 inch ceiling. It’s meant for a huge room in my opinion but it is very nice I’m sure. The il cremonese it’s very nice but I don’t like the subwoofer stuff going on at the base of it. Seems kind of weird.

The G5 is something I’m very interested in, but I wanna fully explore the supreme and I think the lower end of the bass range is not as deep on the supreme, and maybe this means you have to get subwoofers which is OK. I like the way they handle the bass crossovers (night identical for each driver) which seems to provide more openness for the mid range without overwhelming it.

I don’t like the viewing window  of the crossovers at the top of the speaker cabinet on the supreme. It’s kind of creepy but maybe I can live with that. They need to design it with a cover or something if they really want to keep it.

But I mostly like the supreme idea because I so enjoy spending as much money as possible on audio equipment because it makes me feel better.

In my will I’m gonna give one to one family member and the other speaker to another and let them fight it out.

Thanks for the reply. You might have saved me some money. I totally forgot about the metal tweeters in the RX3m3’s.  I have problems with metal tweeters and some metal midrange drivers ((probably because of the crossover point) They really hurt my ears at relatively low volume. I got rid of a pair of KEF Reference 5’s because I couldn’t listen above 60-70 dbs.
I bet it’s been twenty years since I’ve been to Chicago land.  I used to work at McCormick Center or Schaumburg at least twice a year. Maybe a roadtrip would be in order.

@curiousjim

I reread my post on the Extremes and meant to say ‘not’ necessarily better for most. Glad you didn’t misunderstand.

Interestingly, I have the same problem with metal tweeters and sold a pair of KEF Ref 3s for essentially the same reason, and replaced them with SF Serafino’s in that system. While I completely respect KEF’s engineering prowess, I’ve decided no metal tweeters for me regardless of manufacturer be it Magico, Focal, or KEF. I have/had the same reaction to all of them. Wilson’s hurt my ears prior to their move to a silk dome tweeter.

Keep us posted if you go audition them!

i’m about ready to trade my Amati G5’s in toward the new Amati Supreme, just doing some last minute research. I wish there was a pair within driving distance of Tampa FL to hear, but I was assuming they would just be "a better G5". Hoping that is the case if i do unload my wonderful G5s, love the sound. For some music, i don’t even need the JL fathom subs, bass is amazing on the G5 but for home theater the subs help.
I was reading about about the fatiguing nature of metal tweeters, that is not what the Supreme have right?? the Suprema mid and double tweeters in the Supreme are not metal tweeters? thanks
