RIP! Saw him so many times in the '70s. A vital force and brilliant musician.

In the right place, at the right time- Played with Hendrix, Clapton, Delaney and Bonnie, George Harrison, Paul McCartney, Rolling Stones. Was in the first and evolving iteration of Derek and the Dominoes. Appreciate his work with Traffic, though according to an obit, Steve Winwood didn't, which was why Mason was summarily fired. RIP and thanks for the great music. |
I just read that, he was a big part of my love for music. I have quite a few of his albums, probably my favorite is the so called White Album. I saw him in Denver at the now gone Rainbow Music Hall and also at The Denver Auditorium. Great guitarist, I remember an interview with him talking about recording All Along the Watchtower, and he said after watch Jimi Hendrix that he would need to learn another instrument because he could never reach that level. A lost treasure and at month shy of 90 he gave us some great memories. Also loved his work with Traffic in his early years. maybe he can spend sometime with Jimi in guitarist heaven wharfy, thanks for the awesome link!

@theo -You're welcome. Too bad that group didn't tour-Mick Fleetwood, Sammy Hagar, Michael McDonald, and Doobie Brothers members Tom Johnston, Pat Simmons, and John McFee. I would have gotten tix. |
