Andrew Jones - New Company, New Speaker - Field Coil Concentric

Has anyone listened to Andrew's new speaker at Axpona?  Please post comments.  I'm sure many of us are curious.

I listened to Andrew discuss the speakers and listened to them on Friday at Axpona.  They're very nice. Very fast. Great dynamics. Plenty of tight bottom end. The room was too small. I'd like to hear them in a larger room. 

@deep_333, @phusis, in a link where Andrew goes into great detail on the design he mentioned the mid/tweeter coaxial is tilted back in the front baffle to aim at the listener position.  This choice was rather than tilt the cabinet backwards.

However this seems to dictate how far the listener sits relative to the speakers.  Depending on the listener's height there would be only one preferred distance.  So for a demo there would be only one row of seating close to that.  

Had a chance to spend some time talking to Andrew on the way home from AXPONA.  What a nice chap.  He knew Billy Woodman who founded ATC and was  at KEF during an important time.  Really enjoyed getting to know him a bit.  We even talked about my 1939 Field Coil Stromberg Carlson coax mounted in a transmission line cabinet!

I listened to them and found them unusually forward sounding but incredibly clear.  Midrange was super forward and this caused cringing fatigue on some music.  They sound anti-forgiving.  Room was large enough and speakers were near the wall which should have enhanced the bass but it was underwhelming.  They have potential but must be significantly re-voiced to be able to sound good on anything but simple, extremely well recorded prime audiophile recordings.  

Produced some of the most glaring unacceptable cringes I have ever heard coming from a set of any speakers.  

I didn't have much luck hearing the Sourcepoint 8 or 10, or even 888 or V10s. But I did stand in line for the chance to hear the Troubadors. The majority of the folks coming out of the room seemed to be pleased with the experience. My fifteen minutes in the room with the crowd was not to my taste. Yes it was dynamic and detailed, and yes Mr. Jones is a pleasant fellow. The speakers were dramatic but fatiguing for me. I would have liked to hear them a second time, because they were receiving a lot of positive word of mouth. I went by on Sunday for a follow up listen, hoping for a slower pace and maybe a softer volume. But the room was closed so that a reviewer might have a private 20 minute listen.

Ah well.
