Andrew Jones - New Company, New Speaker - Field Coil Concentric

I had the dude’s tad OG reference for 15+ years....Currently, have his Adante series...and the trickle down tad model.

From that reference point, ~34k is actually not that bad...(the next alternative would be the Mofi v10 master edition for 8k, of course, the mofi is a bit of a steal actually).

The demo was nice...but, i’d like to put the new speaker on a slightly taller stand perhaps, still confused about the short crap stand...It was kinda busy, couldn’t talk to him much yet...Nevertheless, the dude slayed anything ’field coil’ i’ve ever heard....If you want field coil perfected, this is it....(everything else is numb nut field coil category)

33.9k is the price it appears. Looks like I’ll never own them. lol.

I expected the Troubadour's to be a bit more expensive, i.e.: something like $40k/pair as was suggested earlier in this thread, or even more pricey. And yes the Mofi V10's seem very fairly priced given their stated sonic (and engineering) pedigree and apparent physical wallop.

I was wondering about that - indeed one would almost call them feet rather than stands. The acoustic center looks to be below ear level in a more typically seated position (raising them a further ~5" from the floor would put them in a more ideal position, I believe), which the backward tilt won't be able to conceal. 

Going by some videos they come off a bit hot sounding in the highs - was that something you noticed in your auditioning them? 

Has anyone listened to Andrew's new speaker at Axpona?  Please post comments.  I'm sure many of us are curious.

I listened to Andrew discuss the speakers and listened to them on Friday at Axpona.  They're very nice. Very fast. Great dynamics. Plenty of tight bottom end. The room was too small. I'd like to hear them in a larger room. 

@deep_333, @phusis, in a link where Andrew goes into great detail on the design he mentioned the mid/tweeter coaxial is tilted back in the front baffle to aim at the listener position.  This choice was rather than tilt the cabinet backwards.

However this seems to dictate how far the listener sits relative to the speakers.  Depending on the listener's height there would be only one preferred distance.  So for a demo there would be only one row of seating close to that.  

Had a chance to spend some time talking to Andrew on the way home from AXPONA.  What a nice chap.  He knew Billy Woodman who founded ATC and was  at KEF during an important time.  Really enjoyed getting to know him a bit.  We even talked about my 1939 Field Coil Stromberg Carlson coax mounted in a transmission line cabinet!
