Hi all, all tube system that is warm with a good midrange presence inherently. I’m looking for a cartridge that offers high detail / resolution and wide / deep soundstage. This is on a stock SL-1200G TT. On a side note, if anyone has experience “upgrading” the stock tonearm on a G please chime in. I’ve read conflicting reports of the merits of such a move, and while I’m very happy with the tone of my TT and am not looking to move off of it, I am curious about a tonearm swap (must allow for headshell swapping).
I’m proud to be the first person to publicly go on record(pun intended) on the internet with a rave review of the ART20.
I hope you realise the the tonearm on your GT2000 has non offset vertical bearings, which means that any time you adjust the VTA such that the arm is not parallel to the record, then your azimuth is out ( cartridge leans to one side ). Therefore it is not possible for you to have optimised any cartridge on that turntable.
By contrast, included in your system pictures, the GT2000X appears to have a tonearm with offset vertical bearings ( that I assume match the offset angle of the cartridge ) which means that on that arm when you adjust VTA the azimuth does not change.
Have you been attending the lewm school of Yamaha GT 2000 series misinformation?
If so, You’ve graduated with a Magna Cum Laude.
I know which arm you are speaking of: However, I have never laid eyes on that arm. Let alone owned one. Let alone used one.
ok - so here is your system page ( see below ) - I am talking about the pictures of "your" turntables in your system page.
Included in your pictures on your system page is a straight tonearm with non offset bearings ( black TT ) and a GT2000 with an s shaped arm with what looks like offset bearings.
Now maybe the point I was making about the impact on azimuth when adjusting VTA on tonearms with offset and non offset bearings may be beyond your level of understanding, but your assertion that
Whatever it is you are smoking/snorting/injecting/quaffing sure evokes some fantastic writing.
is asinine.
