I grew up with electric baseboard heating in my room.
I noticed that if I leaned my records (usually at around 70 degrees) up against the heaters in the winter, they warped.
However, this was not the case in the summer. It did not matter what degree of tilt I utilized; and I tried all degree variations to ensure I was not being irrational!
I think, based on what I have learned, that there is an unknown force that develops in the fall that changes the earth axis, thus requiring varing amounts of tilt in relation to the changing seasons.
When I asked AI about this, I was informed that...the tilt of Earth's axis (called, obliquity -- for those who do not know) remaining fixed, while the Earth revolves around the sun, causes the northern hemisphere (where I am located) to tilt away from the sun as autumn begins.
Hence, the degree of tilt for record storage- is dependent on the season- which runs parallel to the tilt of the earth axis. Makes sense!
