Warped LP's

Hey,

So, are some pressings just warped from factory?

I had purchased Springsteen’s Letter to You from Amazon (double LP) and the first LP has a very visible warp/wobble to it, although it sounded fine.

But didn’t like that and so exchanged it for another and this one also seems to have a bit of a wobble to it although not as bad as the first one (same side).

Since it seems to sound ok, I will probably just stick with it.

Amazon packing seems pretty secure and safe so I don’t think it is on them although who knows how they are kept at their warehouse.

But wanted to inquire if this happens time to time.

Thnx

I bought many records from Music Direct over the years and about 25% of them were warped but not too bad.  One particular record stands out, it was Jethro Tull’s Aqualung remaster on 180 gram vinyl. It was warped so bad, it wouldn’t sit on the platter as the entire album was dished.  That went back to MD and I not only got another new and unwarped record, but also a $25.00 credit voucher.  Now, that is a good dealer. Buy from a reputable dealer and they will take care of you.

There will always be a significant percentage of records that arrive warped.  Just return them, and buy another copy.  The less expensive record flatteners do not work well, and it’s not worth the trouble.  I have no experience with the $2,000+ record flatteners, but they probably work, but not worth purchasing just to flatten a $30 record.

Love my ORB. I chose to invest in it around 15 years ago.

I was buying around $500 a month in lps for a few years, so it's been used quite a bit.
