I hope I made good choices with new gear. Comments?

@sls883 Oh, I'm sure I'll be quite happy. This will be the best gear I've ever owned. Research says the synergy should not only be good but outstanding. The vintage equipment I run actually did provide very noticeable differences when I upgraded to Morrow Audio speaker cables and even just Audioquest Tower interconnects. The better grade cables and such I'm getting now should make me ecstatic. 

@buellrider97 The Shanling CT90 Premium CD Transport does have USB as does the Benchmark Media DAC3B. Probably give it a test eventually. 

The  Shanling CT90 does not come with streaming or Wi-Fi. Bluetooth it does. 

@panzrwagn Whole house surge protection. Just got a chance to look into that. MUCH cheaper than I would have guessed. Calling our electrician Monday about a Type 1 whole house  surge protector. Do we also need the Type 2, indoor unit? 

Battery backup. Firm believer in it. We have them all over the house. We don't need them to last very long though, the standby generator kicks on in like 7 seconds of an outage, That's 14,6 kw, enough for the whole house. 

Speakers. I really do appreciate your thoughts on the matter. I think I should wait until all this new stuff is setup for a bit before thinking about new speakers. Maybe then I'll know if or what I want different.

Your room/system journey had some obvious parallels to my own, in which I took 25+ years to do massive woodworking built-ins throughout our very large secondary living room, which was originally to be my sound room, but has since become a beautifully decorated video parlor & hangout area.

The main parallel: a 77" LG OLED (mine is a 77" C8 purchased in late ’18). That was and still is a total game changer, easily the best video device I’ve ever owned or seen. 

Clontinuing the parallels: I, too, have a 4K blu ray player (Panasonic UB420-P). I used it only rarely, but when I do, the visual results are astounding. As good as 4K streaming is, 4K blu ray is even better.

@desktopguy  Thanks for the nice post. Yes, this will my nicest TV I've ever owned also. Mom has a 55" LG OLED and it sold me on this one. 

Looking forward to watching a few 4K Blu-Ray videos. Except for the complete Jack Nicholson catalogue, I don't buy many movies. For 4K though I did buy a few that peaked my interest. First, I bought Mad Max Fury Road (2015). I've read that it's the 4K movie to judge all others against. I also bought Fall (2022). I have vertigo and enjoy messing with it. Even on a 55" TV that movie goofs up my senses. I also enjoy things about our solar system, the universe and space in general. Not much I could find in 4K about that topic that's non-fiction. I did find Apollo 11 (2019) and For All Mankind (1989 but redone in 4K). I may get some other space films in the future. They won't be in 4K but I'm hoping the up-scaling feature does a pretty good job. 

Besides audio, my main hobby is model railroads and trains. I currently have 412 railroad videos. Those wear out DVD players, LOL!

"railroad videos" (amazing!). I could get carried away w/model RR & trains, but never gave that infection a chance to start.

As for 4K video, I had to get the Jason Bourne collection (all pretty wonderful & wonderful looking films). My most recent purchase was a rather beautiful film I saw in the theater, ARRIVAL.

@jrosemd Thanks for the private message but I can't respond to messages here. I haven't provided audiogon with a credit card or phone number. I appreciate the JBL info. Those L-110s are pretty scarce and the ones up for sale are either too banged up or the sellers want payment methods that I'm not comfortable with.  I did look into KLH speakers. I want to stay with something that will go down to 35 hz or lower though.
