I had this issue using my MU2 with Roon and Qobuz. It was irritating. Just received an update yesterday that fixed it. Since the MU2 and roon are so closely tied, I can’t say what actually was fixed. But since a fix is available I’m confident it will be rolled out to other platforms soon.
Roon Issues - Not able to play certain tracks
I have been running into this issue when Roon is in the radio mode where spontaneously it runs into a track it can’t play. It just sits there trying to play it.
When I go to that album and attempt to manually play that same track on Qobuz the result is the same - it won’t play. Plays other tracks from the albums just fine.
If I go back to Roon radio and skip that track the next song is played no issues.
No such problems with Tidal.
I have rebooted the Roon Nucleus One, rebooted my network, rebooted my DAC.
Even signed out of streaming services and signed back in. No bueno. This is in addition to it being sluggish and requiring an almost daily reboot to maintain sound quality and proper operating speed. Now this…
Anyone else with this problem?

One supposed advantage of streaming compared to , say, analog, is supposed to be ease of use. I am not a Roon user but if I had to put up with the level of frustration on offer here I would never use it again. I can’t remember how many printers I’ve had that work fine for a while and then some update by either Apple, Microsoft, or the printer company renders everything non compatible. All the companies point fingers at each other . |
@mahler123 100% this was my conclusion after 8 years of dicking around with streaming. It’s good for background and discovery. There seems to be rare exceptions where individuals report zero issues and bliss, and I’m happy for them, truly. It has happened with me as well, but only for relatively brief periods before the headaches begin again. Maybe I didn’t spend enough? Maybe I need to drop 30K on a streamer? Ya that’s the ticket!! 🎟️ 😮💨 |
Even if within Roon’s system requirements, I suggest that any NAS is simply too underpowered to run Roon reliably over the long haul. Unless you keep your library very one dimensional - all albums identified, maybe only streaming, no tags, few playlists etc. Linux has been least problematic with Roon for me. I suggest at least 6 cores, very very fast. 16 to 32 GB memory. Lots of fan noise so put it in the basement. Anyone else a little anxious about this upcoming Roon release? I mean, past big releases have had big bugs and temporarily taken out substantial parts of the user base. What's the over/under on days to the second hotfix release? |
