Do You Regret Selling Your Turntable and Albums ?

I"m out of room for hobbies and we will likely be moving to a smaller home. I don't want to wait until the last minute to sell things. That didn't work out well last time we moved. Time to downsize. Again.

I enjoy streaming music and haven't played vinyl in over a year. Did you sell your TT and album collection and did you regret it ?

I’ve culled my collection quite a bit and haven’t purchased anything new for myself in a few years. My son received quite a few of my old albums. He asks for recommendations on albums to buy, and I’ve purchased many for him.

Years ago I got rid of 3 or 4 fruit crates of albums. Lots of favorites. 20 years later I ended up purchasing the same content in CD format. Though I would've had to store them for decades, I'd certainly like to have them now.

I still have my outstanding analog end and 2,000 mostly pristine and audiophile albums. Every few months, I feel that they somehow must sound better in some way. So I spin a disk. Then I listen to the same recording in streaming... and notice, it does not sound better. Then go back to streaming.

So, I should sell my $45K analog end... but then, I might start getting nostalgic and start thinking vinyl sounds better and start investing again... I guess it is a deterrent to thinking vinyl sounds better, even though I know it is the components that craft the sound not the media...well other than surface noise and pops.

I know I could put another $12K into a really high end cartridge and have it pull ahead slightly... but then that would only be for my 2,000 albums... if I put in the $12K into my digital end, it could sound a bit better for a million albums.

So, I should sell it... I guess I am just too lazy.

Nope don't miss records at all. They were good because that's all there was. Head the first c.d. bought an early player the disc played vertically. Sold my Thorens turntable with a Rabco arm and a year later my down stairs closet where the records were stored got wet from an unknown roof leak stuck the cardboard to the record ruined most of them so out they went. At that point even in good condition they were worthless every body had switched to c.d.'s. I know have a medium high end system with state of the art SACD player. No record comes close.

No.  I still have them but haven't played a vinyl album in decades.  My digital sounds great and I don't want to accumulate any more stuff.
