D to A Converters

I'm interested in digitizing some of my vinyl.  What are people using to make a high quality digital file?  What are you using as a Analog to digital converter?

Thanks!

@audphile1 I have an EAT Eglo petit.    If I were going to seriously pursue a great analog system, that is one of the things I’d upgrade.  But I lost a lot of my vinyl collection while it was in storage.  I probably only have 200-300 albums that are in good shape. was a bit of an audiophile when I was young, but then children, college tuition, and work got in the way. Now that the kids are out of the house, I find myself really enjoying streaming.   It allows me to easily explore music that is new to me.   And I can sit down and listen to 4 versions of Mahler 2, or endless tracks of a jazz standard.   It fits my personality.   So, I figure instead of spending thousands on more vinyl, I’ll spend that money upgrading the digital side of my system.

@pdspiegel thank you for this suggestion.   I see that Tascam used for a reasonable price.  I think I’ll pick it up!

@ghdprentice Ive spent more money on my digital front end than my analog.   And I probably will continue to upgrade it.  I’m usually very happy with the sound I’m getting while streaming.  Sometimes it can sound better than the vinyl album I have. But there are times that my older vinyl still sounds better.   I recently streamed an old Buddy Rich album that I have on Vinyl.   It was originally issued as a direct to disc.  The sound was compressed and the balance was all off.   I don’t know what they did to it when making the digital file, but it was just bad.  That being said, I will continue to enjoy streaming!

thanks,

steve

really depends on how far you want to go. Am using a Pure2 with a 10MX clock.

@vermontstephen I sold a decent analog setup 3 years ago to focus on digital and did get the streaming to a pretty good level. Then I got bored and put together another analog front end in November of last year. I got so into it that I just upgraded my cartridge and that took the performance to another level. No matter how good the streaming is, vinyl will always sound different enough to enjoy it.
Right now you have so many incredible reissues on vinyl mastered in full analog that it would be a shame to ditch it. The tone and presentation when you play a stellar vinyl record draws you in and streaming can’t match that in most cases with the digitally remastered versions you are listening to. You can definitely go down the path of upgrading your streaming but I’m pretty sure at some point you will make a full circle.
