Von Schweikert VR-4 RIP…..what’s next?

I've replaced the midranges and tweeters in my VR-4s.  The bass drivers are hanging in there.  They are currently sitting under covers waiting for one of my sons to snag them. 

I wanted to stay with Von Schweikert, so I bought their Model One.  Much better speaker, but they don't have the huge amount of bass.  I run them with a pair of REL subs. 

Are you looking for new or used?

New. Hey SLS, did those replacements sound just as good? I’ve heard they were not generic parts nos., but tweaked for VS a bit. For me it’s the bass drivers giving out.

I don’t know about today, but the Audax midrange was still available a few years ago. One of them was making a noise that I thought was coming from the tweeter, so I replaced the tweeters with ScanSpeak tweeters that are better than the oem Vifa tweeters that are no longer available.  I did find some NOS Vifa tweeters on eBay, but I prefer the ScanSpeak.

It’s my understanding that the bass drivers were specially made for Von Schweikert and are no longer available.  Mine are still good, so I didn’t look for a possible replacement.
