Seeking CD Player with Digital Inputs

I have a friend who I'm helping to put together his first reasonable stereo.  He needs a source.  We were thinking that he could get a lot out of a CD player with digital inputs - one could be used for his TV (optical) and one for a streamer (coax).  Does such a thing exist?  Or would it be better to look for a DAC with three digital inputs (CD, streamer, TV).  Thanks in advance for any ideas.

@ghdprentice I am not seeing good options.  And I just checked two lower priced streamers (WIIM and NODE) and neither of them have two digital inputs.  A streamer with two digital inputs would work, if there was a budget one. Looks like the Cambridge Audio EXN100 would work, but that is almost $2k. The Cambridge Audio CXN100 would also work at $1.1k - but still a bit too pricey.

"good and enjoyable"

The budget is shockingly low for a good DAC+streamer with maybe a transport. Seems fortunate if you can simply get “functional and reliable” at that budget level.

@peter_s my recommendation would be to just get Wiim Ultra that has HDMI ARC and optical in, subscribe to tidal or Qobuz, whichever is cheaper for the high resolution option) and ditch the CD idea. If you want CD and dac for $400 you are taking about tremendously compromised performance and you will be neither here nor there. With WiiM Ultra for $329 on amazon you’ll have the best possible performance for your budget.

@audphile1 Thanks.  I didn't realize that the Ultra has both HDMI and optical inputs.  That should work as long as his OLD TV uses a compatible HDMI format.

@peter_s at this price point, unless your cd collection contains albums not available on tidal or qobuz, there’s absolutely no point in CD.
