Bi-amping with tubes from 65hz up, and solid state below that has been a game changer for me. Things improved in multiple aspects. Good luck getting it dialed in, and enjoy.
Aric Audio Transcend Push Pull?
Anyone own this amp and if you do how do you like it? I am planning on getting one to add to the amp stable. I have a nice Coda SS amp so I thought I’d add a Tube amp to be able to change flavors from time to time. Aric has agreed to build it with XLR connectors so I can use my existing cables and he suggested the EL 34 tubes in it for my speakers and room situation. It will drive the top end of my Legacy Focus XD’s through the Legacy Wavelet II crossover/DSP unit. All the reviews I can find on it are old and Aric has made several improvements to it. I ordered it with stage 2 upgrades, might as well go "all in" as it will be my last major purchase. Looking for the tube warmth, bloom, soundstage layering and magic midrange tubes are so good at. Swapping amps will be easy for me because they both only weigh 45 pounds. I am 71 and ain’t what I used t be. LOL. Thank you.

The mcintosh 901 has 300 watts tube combined with 600 watts solid state and crossover,it's a game changer. While I do like tubes on top end with heavy watt solid state on woofers. You are on to a great combination but I have no experience with that brand. Now a while back you talked about your power conditioner do you still like it and what brand? Enjoy your search and the music. |
Hello! I have the Transend amp and love it. Don’t think you’ll be disappointed in the least. I also have the Aric Motherload XL pre amp. When I was emailing with Aric about system construction, he mentioned that many of his buyers pair the Motherload with Coda SS amps with great success. Maybe think about running your Wavelet II through the Motherload XL to get some tube sound you’re looking for? Could make swapping a little easier and there are fewer tubes if you want to get into rolling. Good luck and happy listening! |
@mark200mph Yes I like the Vinshine TaiHang a lot, my rig always sounds good now no matter the time of day. Not a Mac fan myself. @mezzguy2 Thank you for that confirmation. I looked into the Motherload XL a year or so ago but decided against a preamp as the Wavelet II does that job well. Plus requiring more interconnects. I almost bought one. Now I feel I can scratch that tube sound itch with a nice tube amp which is the last thing in the chain behind the DSP that happens in the Wavelet. Anything before it will be digitized, so this way I think I will get ALL of the tube goodness. Time will tell it's a 5 month wait now. I plan on keeping my Coda it is an outstanding piece, love it. |
I own the Aric….it is a spectacular piece and the best tube amp I have ever owned. I purchased with the Tier 2 upgrade. Tonally accurate and pure. Wonderful imaging. Dead quiet and excellent build quality. I like the old school look. I use the Ray Reserve tubes upfront and KT150 for power. Check out my system pictures. |
