It's been a long time since I have listened to Dave Edmunds.
Great track!!!!
For lovers of real Rock 'n' Roll.
Which means the 1950's.

FYI: Shane asks Kevin if the reason Elvis had the hit version of Carl Perkins' "Blue Suede Shoes" was because Carl got sick and couldn't tour. No, it was because Carl and his band were on their way to NYC to perform the song on The Ed Sullivan Show when on the way were involved in a serious car accident, their appearance therefore being cancelled.
Speaking of real Rock 'n' Roll, here's one of Dave Edmunds' last recordings released by a major label, a great one:

Thanks for your post , good stuff. Your question stating “ Real Rock N Roll “ could start an argument , for me it’s all Rock N Roll. My first thought of Dave Edmunds Is “ Rock Pile “, then Marty Stuart and Carlene Carter. Having seen the stray Cat’s a couple times I can sure link them to Dave Edmunds and Eddie Cochran. Now we’re into Gospel, Rockabilly and Country Rock. Last week my wife and I saw Chris Issac and he covered Elvis and Roy Orbison. Thanks for sharing. If I may quote the Stones “ It’s only Rock N Roll , but I like it “. Blessings to you and everyone else, Mike B. |
All great responses!
Rockpile (a true Supergroup, Edmunds and Nick Lowe joined by Billy Bremner on guitar and vocals, Terry Williams on drums. After Rockpile Terry joined Dire Straits. Terry and Dave have retired, Nick and Billy are still active) were one of the best bands I ever saw live, NRBQ another. I saw NRBQ awhile back in a Portland club, and though Terry Adams is the sole remaining original member they not only were still great, but actually sounded very much as they always have!
Speaking of Carlene Carter, for a while she had NRBQ guitarist Big Al Anderson working in her road band (there’s an episode of Austin City Limits with the two of them on stage). Here are she and Edmunds lip-synchng to a song off her fantastic Musical Shapes album:
