Qualio IQ owners, still happy?

I'd like to hear from current or former owners of these speakers. Also anyone who has had an audition of them. What do you think? These are on my radar.

I auditioned this speaker before and generally agree with your perception. Audiophiles trust that you provide an unbiased assessment, especially regarding the critique of light bass and the previously measured bass dip in the 35-50Hz range.

That measured dip is likely due to a room mode. In-room, far-field measurements do not accurately reflect a speaker’s bass response below ≈250Hz. The bass response would have to be measured separately by placing a mic very close to the woofer and port, and then splicing that gated response into the rest of the graph.

When reviewers measure their in-room response from the listening position, as I expect that reviewer did, the results are essentially meaningless for potential buyers.

Hello there!

I might buy a pair of Qualio Q in the near future and I d like your advice.

I m currently running a pair of Spendor A7 driven by a Marantz model 30 and using a chord mojo 2.

Would you say that the Qualios would be an upgrade ? I m a bit scared about comments related to lack of bass but I guess I can t get less bass than my current Spendors.

Thank you!

@smrt

There is no "lack of bass" issue with the IQ’s.  In fact if you can’t get them placed out into the room and away from the back walls you could have too much bass. If you’re seriously looking to buy a pair, I have a friend with a gloss black pair that are too much for his room so he will be looking to sell and buy something smaller. I have owned a pair of IQ Ultra's for over a year but my pair are five feet off of the real wall so no issues with overload and no lack of bass.

Agreed. You will want to place them farther into the room not only for the bass response, but because of the dipole nature of the drivers. But they certainly don't lack for bass.

Alright thank you!

My room is 3,40 meters by 4,90 meters. I'm sitting on my sofa approximatly 4,30 meters away from the speakers and my sofa is againt the wall.

Do you think that would be fine?
