I’m circling back to JPLAY features once again.
Great - love the UI. Easy to use and after I shut down roon core - no dropouts. good information on most popular artists, same as Qobuz or Tidal
Features I miss -
1. Playing an album is much like playing a CD. When it’s over, the music stops. In comparison, Roon continues with the “like” selection of music using Roon radio feature. This is awesome for music discovery, missing in jplay
2. I use 2 devices - iPad and iPhone. If I start playing a selection using one device, it’s not reflected on a second remote. I don’t think it’s particularly difficult to fix but would be nice. I’d like to know where in the album or a “radio station “ I am…what’s playing.
3. the MQA playback is missing
4. sorting artist albums by popularity - missing in jplay, would be extremely nice to have
Is it a justified balance between features and sound quality? With these streaming apps you get either the features or the sound quality. Lucky for us, both are relatively close. So it’s up to individual user to make the choice. Be ready to accept a compromise.
