Replacing Roon - What Should I get?

I'm tired of Roon having brain farts.  I have an original Roon Nucleus and have updated and augmented the Memory.  This helped for a bit.  But now, I keep having to reboot the darn thing.

It's not my network.  I have checked it out and everything in the house works fine.

Here is the setup.  A direct fiber optic link goes to the Router.  Then ethernet to Roon from the Router.  This way I get Roon to talk with the setup upstairs.  I have an 35 foot ethernet cable that runs through the walls directly from the router into my dCS Lina.

I want to replace the Roon.  I am thinking about an Innuos Stream.  Just need a streamer that can hold Roon/Tidal.  Don't need a DAC as the dCS does that quite well.  I have a SSD in the Nucleus that holds a ton of my music that I want to move over.

Thoughts on what to replace the Roon with?  Innuos (Stream) always get bandied about.  I hear about Arender as well. I don't want to get an updated Roon.

I also wonder about deleting and reinstalling the Roon App on my iPads.

Thanks in Advance

Sorry to hear you’re having problems with Roon. Have you tried getting advice on the Roon Community?

I trialled Jplay for IOS as a cheaper alternative to Roon. It works on an iPad but needs a to have a UPnP server like dBpowerampAsset.running.

It reputedly sounds better than other applications because of low network traffic.

It’s very like Roon to use. Unfortunately, it didn’t work for me because my streamer wasn’t compatible and wouldn’t play gaplessly. So I have kept on using Roon.

I feel your pain. Probably one of the most stressful audio experiences that I went through. For what it’s worth, have you tried any products with Roon built in? I say this because I experienced similar issues like you on my original Roon Nucleus and even sent it in once to be repaired. However, as a last-ditch effort, because I bought the lifetime membership, I agreed to demo a streamer that had Roon built in, and I have NOT had one issue since. It worked so nicely that I bought the streamer, an MU-1, and haven’t looked back. In my opinion, I think the Roon company products are low-end. Have you considered Aurender? They make several products that you can run Roon on or simply stream Qobuz and Tidal. You can even switch back and forth. Plus, they offer phenomenal support to keep you up and running. Good luck, and let us know how you make out.

my situation was just like yours. I switched to the JPlay app and lost all that extra hardware required by Roon and got an improvement in sound that I like and software stability. I stream Qobuz through the JPlay app to my Weiss 501 Dac. I get a more natural sound and more definition while I found Roon’s sound to be on the warmer side. I don’t know what streamer you use, but I thought virtually all streamers would do UPNP
