Quick DAC question

Thanks ahead of time for your patience on this one. If I am streaming Tidal through mConnect using my Oppo 105, then a coaxial cable into a Gustard r26 DAC, which DAC is actually being used? The one from the gustard or the one in the Oppo? I know I should run a physical ethernet cable into the gustard and just use the Oppo as a CD transport but that's going to be a last resort because of the location of my modem / router way down in the basement.

@soix That's what I do.  My internet comes into the house on the main floor.  My system is in the basement.  I use an ASUS wireless router to send the signal to the basement.

It's a good router.  I rarely have any issues with wi-fi.

+1 soix. There are extenders like soix mentioned and there are ac line adapters. They both have an endpoint unit that you can plug in at your system and run an Ethernet cable from that point to your Gustard thus eliminating the Oppo in the chain. Then get a short high quality Ethernet cable and connect the 2 points. In my case I run an Ethernet cable from my endpoint to a LAN filter that’s sitting on block of wood for isolation and then a 18” higher quality Ethernet cable to my streamer.

Something’s amiss.  I meant run an Ethernet cable from a Wi-Fi extender or Mesh node to the Gustard in your listening room, not use Wi-Fi.  Is that what you’re doing, because it didn’t sound like it from your initial post?

thanks all. yes, I'm using a 75 ohm digital coaxial from the oppo to the Gustard. AI also suggested a wifi extender before I start drilling holes in the floor. @soix any particular extender you recommend or does it matter?

@soix It’s an ASUS ZenWiFi Pro XT12.  Wider Range with Superior Speed.

It takes the productivity and entertainment capabilities of your whole-home network to the next level, with scalable capacity for the new generation of home networking ecosystems.

I connect my streamer to the ASUS receiver via ethernet cable.  I misspoke when I called it a router.  The router (provided by Google) is connected to Google fiber and the ASUS connects to the router by ethernet.
