recommends for interconnects?

Looking to replace old (and tired) MIT shotgun XLR interconnects between Mac 402 amp and Levinson pre and CD player.

there are so many cables and reviews and opinions out there. Looking for similar or slight improvement in sound, but under a few hundred dollars. Is that even possible?   1 meter with XLR terminating both ends.....

Ideas and thoughts much appreciated.

Is it possible? Only you can determine whether a cable swap will change (good or bad) the sound of your system regardless of product accolades and claims.

If I wanted my system to sound better, I would by a better speakers, DAC, amp, or preamp and use my same cables, but that is just me.

But this hypothesis can be easily tested with a cheap pair of Mogami 2549 or Belden 1800F cables before investing in a more expensive set.

If your system is fully balanced source to output, I would say no, not much possibility but further investigation is required. Have fun :)

@derbim on a used market for under $2k you can try Nordost Tyr 2 XLRs. Excellent cables. Kimber KS series is very nice. If you’re looking for a more detailed sound try Kimber KS1126.
But…you will disrupt the synergy between interconnects and speaker cables. With McIntosh you may be ok as it tends to homogenize things to a certain degree but you never know until you tried.

Again, if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.

Mogami Platinum XLR.

Not as exciting a purchase as the boutique or underground cable makers but a fantastic balanced cable nonetheless. $2-$300 for a single pair.
