Streaming resolution

What’s your favorite streaming resolution?  I find when streaming hi-rez files the best resolution for me is 24/44.1 or 48.  Anything higher like 96 or 192 sounds to sanitary.  It’s almost lifeless.  It doesn’t reveal more for me it’s sounds flat and to precise.  At 48kHz - that is the sweet spot for me.  The music is lively and revealing and this is across genres. Do you have a preference? What are your experiences ?

Same as Soix.

For analytical listening high res helps but for enjoyment, quality of recording matters the most or I suppose it is emotion and musicality.  Some recordings from 30 to 40 years ago are amazing and of course, some are terrible.  I really enjoy listening to older music that I had only listened to previously on low quality (stuff I could afford) systems and how amazing the tracks on good gear sound.

I have an extremely revealing dedicated streaming only audio system, and like anything else, CD, vinyl, etc., some recordings, regardless of stated res, just sound better, or were better recorded than others.  Streamed music is no exception to the rule.  Happy listening.

I agree with @soix on this. The actual recording is so important. My system is very revealing to good recordings but bad recordings can sound terrible on my system. Not long ago my son and his friend were at my house and he chose to listen to a rap sound. It sounded absolutely terrible and this was on Tidal. I was actually shocked at how bad it was and they even commented on that. They shrugged it off that maybe my system wasn't designed for that type of music.
