Streaming resolution

What’s your favorite streaming resolution?  I find when streaming hi-rez files the best resolution for me is 24/44.1 or 48.  Anything higher like 96 or 192 sounds to sanitary.  It’s almost lifeless.  It doesn’t reveal more for me it’s sounds flat and to precise.  At 48kHz - that is the sweet spot for me.  The music is lively and revealing and this is across genres. Do you have a preference? What are your experiences ?

Interesting observation. I have not noticed that. What I noticed is that details and image specificity get better with higher resolution . Maybe it is equipment dependent.

When I had a budget streamer could not listen to something low res. I would always be on the lookout for a 48 or a 96 as they sounded good. Now that I have upgraded, I rarely look for the Hi-Rez symbol and even less about the bit rate. Still have a hard time listening to anything that that’s not contemporary. Hopefully AI can come along and fix this. I hear the recording industry uses AI for mixing and mastering recordings. I wonder if somebody could invent a box that you could put in your system that would use AI to correct all the Faults of old recordings.

I find the quality of the recording matters more than sample rate and bit rate matters more than sample rate.

Same as Soix.

For analytical listening high res helps but for enjoyment, quality of recording matters the most or I suppose it is emotion and musicality.  Some recordings from 30 to 40 years ago are amazing and of course, some are terrible.  I really enjoy listening to older music that I had only listened to previously on low quality (stuff I could afford) systems and how amazing the tracks on good gear sound.
