It's hard to let things go; it's good to let things go

A good friend now parted by 300 miles, loved my old system, when I upgraded to much better things. I thought of him and his poor stereo. So when he visited me at Xmas time. (his wife's family don't like him). I cooly asked him if he would like the speakers as a gift, he was very upbeat. "Yes, Thats great, thanks, I would love them" 

So I drove him back to his home with the speakers in the boot (trunk). We set them up, with his 3 amp speaker cable. Whist drinking heavily. got it sorted and played some of his music. He declared loudly they are great. I did'nt have the heart to tell him his stylus was shot. So next morning, I left for home. feeling something magic had happened.

The next Summer, it was my turn to visit him and his wife. When I arrived, the first thing I noticed was the said speakers were not there. Yes you guest it, They sold them on ebay. 

 Just posted an ad for my boutique acoustic guitar-- the best guitar I’ve ever owned-- by far. Playing exacerbates chronic neck issues. I have other creative outlets but this feels surreal, after playing for 50 years. I suppose this will be good for my writing and drawing, as they’ll get more attention from here on in.

I just gave my son my 2011 BMW 535XI with 32,000 miles on it. Equipped with M Sport package, etc.  Still looks brand new.

Although selling equipment on sounds good, it is hard to do in reality - you can reconfigure systems to see what works nest with other components but I have a lot of gear I have owned for a long time and after experimenting I assembled it into three systems in different rooms (plus a very modest solid state set up in the library).  Which system to listen to depends on mood and which you haven't listened to in awhile.  I can choose tube or solid state, regular speakers or electrostats and which turntable I want to use.

@wspohn  +1.  I never sell equipment, just build a new system.  I do enjoy giving it away to family and friends though.
