Uber Amps - Are they worth it?
This was very well done I thought and struck a chord with me.

High end integrated amp assessment
VAC's are worth it to me - Statement, Master level tube amps. I think Kevin Hayes is a genius in voicing his amps. Of all the money I've spent in this hobby, this chunk (a good sized chunk for sure) continues to yield pleasure and difference-making to "justify" the cost. The longer I own them, the harder it gets to listen to anything else. Not sure I can wrap my head around spending that kind of money on a SS amp, but to each their own. |

+1 @tadcaster Did no one notice how each system changed in its entirety? All sources, preamps, equipment stands, acoustic treatments, transducers, etc. Are we to believe this individual has that many listening rooms not to mention ALL that equipment? Really, that’s how the Brooklyn Bridge is sold. P.T. Barnum stuff here. 10 minutes of our lives we’ll never get back. |
Actually, there was one exception, whose name I forget. A rotund young Englishman with a rather morose demeanor. His reviews were thoughtful and well-documented, but he mostly specialized in headphone gear, which holds a limited interest for me. I seem to recall he got into a tiff with DCS because he wasn’t complimentary enough of one of their DACs. DCS sent him a flurry of insulting and demeaning emails, then threatened legal action, which of course was the stupidest thing a company could do. Guess I’ll correct my previous post to "most audiophile YouTube videos are garbage"
