The Music Room is Slipping

My experience with TMR has been very satisfying. I’ve never paid their asking price. I always ask for reasonable discount and they have always obliged. I have returned speakers, cables and  never an issue. As far as boring products, not in my case. I purchase a pair of speakers from tmr I had never heard of(can’t remember the brand) and just recently purchased an Octive 300SE preamp for 2600. This pre today retails for 8k. When I received the preamp it was brand new looking. I could not find any sign anyone owned the unit. I did enquirer abut seeking them some gear,  it the price was a little low for me and I moved on. As been said, TMR is in business to make money.

Sounds like a lot of people justifying getting gouged on pricing.

Let's not forget they sell new Products as well, and they're getting the same margins on used gear.

Getting to know them by name, doesn't make the screwing any better :)

I have been doing business with TMR for over a decade.  Until a year or two ago, I was always delighted eith their offers and customer service.  They gave me a good customer discount and if it was a big purchase the discounts were above and beyond my expectations.  In addition, I lived nearby their location and ofter went over there and to them face to face.  It was great.  But ... not so much anymore.  Their offers are low, the won't give a discount if I ask for it and the relationships seem more mechanical than personal.  One of their sale guys even admitted it.  He is a good guy and I like him.  Mostly, the only reason I still do business there is for convenience.  Generally speaking, I am very pro business.  They need to make a good profit and grow their business.  But, they have shifted too much and have lost a lot of my business.  I hope they take these posts to heart.  If you are new to using TMR, I can understand why you think they are great, but if you have been doing business with them for years, you will notice the difference.

high class problem for a group of well heeled but cheap hobbyists belly aching about getting screwed over by a small business when buying or selling used expensive toys

I have only had great interaction with them and they provide a great service for audiophiles allowing us to change out things without too much of a loss.
