I love uber amps, I truly do, but I also recognize that a market is in large part brought on by uber-speakers which are unnecessarily hard to drive.
Some speakers, like electrostatics, just can’t be made "easy to drive." I get that, but I think we over-value hard-to-drive speakers as if being hard to drive or discerning of amplifiers IS a goal. A speaker which is "discerning" of an amplifier is NOT in any way more musical or transparent or better to listen to, IMHO. They are separate attributes.
Take super easy to driver speakers like Fritz. An uber amp doesn’t make sense, and I’d spend my megabucks on a fantastic pre instead.
