Dr. Feickert Volare or Acoustic Signature XXL

I’m down to these two. The Feickert comes with an OL Silver arm and the AS comes with their TA1000 arm. Which would you choose and why?

Both tables are pretty well regarded. Seems like it might just come down to which is the better arm. I had an earlier version of the OL Silver about 20 or so years ago on a Roksan Xerses and it didn’t wow me much. That combination seemed a little too analytical but I’m not sure if it was the table or the arm.

I’ve had a Dr. Feickert with Triplanar and Ikeda tonearms for 10 years. No complaints, especially now that Feickert has a linear power supply. Sound quality can compete with my Studer RTR.

I installed a cartridge on a Volare for a friend recently. His has the OL Silver tonearm that I believe comes standard with the Volare. It is tough to make small adjustments on VTF on that arm, and it doesn't allow for azimuth adjustment. Both of these represent fairly big limitations.

I can't speak to the ease of adjustability of VTF on the AS XXL tonearm, but it does allow for azimuth adjustment, giving that table a big advantage over the Volare.

The Volare is a nice table and will show itself as you upgrade the arm. I put an Illustrious MK4 on one for a client and he was very pleased. An Audio Origami PU-7 GTS would be an even better choice and will drop right in. I agree if you can get a deal on the 25th Anniversary model it will get you close to Woodpecker sonics. Also, the Linear Power Supply is worth considering. Let me know if I can help.
