To All Cable Deniers, 1 Very Simple Question.

There are people coming into cable threads and saying all cables sound identical. So I have 1 question for y'all.

Today, it is about power cords.

The end-plug, the metal part, the one you plug into the wall outlet. Without knowing the % of copper in the plug of your basic cable, can you absolutely certain say it sounds identical to a plug with 98% copper?

How about 60% copper plug vs 98% copper? Identical?

40% copper, Identical?

20% copper, Identical?

0% copper, Identical?

To wrap up, the question is very simple. If the copper % is different, would the 2 plugs still sound the same?

A bonus question, if a plug is 60% gold, will it sound identical vs a 98% copper?

"Can the OP hear the fuse holders in his presumably very expensive (because you get what you pay for!), elevated high-end audio gear?"

This is a VERY silly response that adds nothing to the OP and is plainly a poor attempt at deflection. Here is a perfect example of someone behaving childishly in at attempt to prove their viewpoint. This is precisely the behaviour that is prevalent in some other fora.

What is so silly about hearing the effect of fuse holders, laoman? Everything makes a difference.

You seem to confuse me with a cable denier. Maybe you should read the thread before you start shouting.

To jump in re the Ohno casting of wire, it’s not the resistance variation that matters, it’s the effect of grain boundaries on impedance that matters, as it varies with frequency and affects phasing. Our ears are exquisitely sensitive to phasing with frequency.

Another possibility is that since impurities reside between crystals then zero crystal wire  (Ohno) has none.

If metal weight of the cable is important such as in speaker's voice coils, then the material, purity, conductivity , etc, all should be carefully selected.

In case of the power cable, as long as thick enough to carry electriacl energy into audio sets, nothing matters. No matter what, the electrical energy flows w/o hesitation, the audio sets don't see any difference of the energy through all different cables. I can not say anybody stupid, if the anybody buys unnecessary expensive cable. Because I do not have any right to blame anybody as long as he/she spends (wastes, this is correct word) his/her own money.

But I am able to say to myself "I am very stupid" if I buy the cables!

"If the copper % is..., would the 2 plugs still sound the...?"  For my purposes, I reject the premise that power cord plugs make or inject ANY "sound" at all, much less any 'sound' that I need to be concerned with...at all.
