$2000 Dac

I have kept my eyes on the Dac comparisons. What I'd like to know is what Dac can I buy new or used for under $2000? I am looking for examples that don't throw the voices so far in front. Yes, I like the detail. I am coming from a Luxman dac that was very good, but I just felt the voices were too close, often pianos felt the same. Sometimes almost feeling a little glare as well. So, I am searching for a detailed dac with a little more laid back mids for under 2 grand, new or used. thanks

I was actually going to buy that one but I thought it looked a little hodge podge inside. And the balanced outs sounded like an afterthought. So I was skeptical. I've never even heard of them before so I had to take some time and investigate. You beat me to it. I hope it works well for you. thanks May I ask which dac it replaced?

Gustard’s A22/A26/R26/X26 need to be considered!

I have good experience with Gustard DACs, using them for 10+ years.. some fix, maintenance only was done, nothing fundamentally wrong in design found!

does the r26 have an r2r ladder sound? I don't know what that is never having owned one.

not sure about ladder sound.. honestly I don’t trust circuitry outside dac-chip, much too many variables to analyze for a life time!
