@parkergetdean, I’ve been a low watt class A guy for sometime now,and I recently dipped my toes in the class D waters. I picked up a pair of older monos, and I am floored with how good they sound. These amps are rated at 250 wpc@8 ohms,500 wpc@4 ohms. I can only imagine how good newer technologies would sound. There are many choices in the used market, well within your budget.
used power amp under 1500
I started with a great system and I managed to downgrade it to an OK sound through a lot of trades, sales, questionable decisions and shrinking budget. (No regrets, it's been a fun journey.) I ended up with very low sensitivity, hard to drive speakers and now I need more power. Will 100 Watts be enough and is it OK and safe to buy used? Any brands that are a good value at $1500?

@rocray On Saturday I was at a headphone meet and was speaking with the designer of my Imersiv D-1 DAC, John La Grou. This DAC is gaining a lot of attention (I love it). John told me that he is designing a new amp with his friend Bruno Putzeys (the legendary Class D guy). This new amp will use something similar to what my Imersiv D-1 DAC uses, which is referred to as multi-path. This should be a very interesting Class D amp. |
@rocray I have been low watt too! What brand were you referencing? |
