$2000 Dac

I have kept my eyes on the Dac comparisons. What I'd like to know is what Dac can I buy new or used for under $2000? I am looking for examples that don't throw the voices so far in front. Yes, I like the detail. I am coming from a Luxman dac that was very good, but I just felt the voices were too close, often pianos felt the same. Sometimes almost feeling a little glare as well. So, I am searching for a detailed dac with a little more laid back mids for under 2 grand, new or used. thanks

thank you for the suggestions. Yes, Garlubidor is a choice, even the Phantom if it ever arrives in the states. The Bricasti would be my choice if I had some extra money. Also the frips Ares and Pontus are a consideration. I've even thought about the Gustard r26 dac. I think I would like to try a ladder dac this time around. I have gone though many dacs, most sounding the same. However, I have never owned a ladder dac. Thanks for all the help

I forgot to mention the R26 before and think that’d be a great option as well.  You could add a Denafrips Iris DDC to this one and still be well under $2k.

I have seen that listing. Something needs to hit me upside the head and say yes, that's the one. Price is nice. One thing though is I believe it is also a pre and streamer? That sort of tells me all the money inside is not spent on just the dac. Truly I would like to find a dac only. Some of the combo units are not able to bypass the volume control.

I heard the Schiit Guniger 2 on Saturday. That is one fine DAC, better than the more expensive Schiit Yggi+ MIB that I own and getting converted to the Byggy. The Guniger 2 was so good that I am thinking of holding off on selling the Byggy or at least give it a listen. It is still at Schiit getting upgraded.
