To repair, rebuild, or toss?

I have a Rotel RB 1080 amplifier which I used to power golden ear Triton one speakers.  I had the amplifier repaired once before, It needed replacement of a capacitor in the right channel. Now there is asymmetric output with respect to the right and left channel. I received a quote to repair the issue for $300 or rebuild the amplifier for $600. The question is, should I repair or rebuild the amplifier? The rebuild option entails a visual inspection and replacement of parts that look like they need to be replaced., I’m a newbie at this game, so I’m not sure what else is out there. Would the money be better off spent on a new amp, if so, which one?

Thank you for your input.

I'd just fix it for the $300 and look at upgrading the amp/ preamp with that big of a budget.  Then either keep it as a spare or sell it off.  It looks like they usually sell for about $400-$500 so it's not worth very much anyway.

@richardbrand  My bad—thanks for the correction. Then it comes down to whether the OP has sentimental attachment to his gear, or goes with this for $500 shipped.  Not sure about its actual condition but according to seller "sounds / looks great"

Take a further look into its current / power sustanibility is actually quite impressive for a budgetary amp back then "the Rotel puts out 291W into 8 ohms with one channel driven (24.6dBW), 558W into 4 ohms (24dBW), and even 800W into 2 ohms (23dBW)!

@ditusa : Why spend $3200 on a pair of Schiit Tyr monos when a pair of Fosi V3 monos with the 48 volt/10 amp power supplies can be had for $280 new now on eBay? Would your golden ears be able to tell them apart?

I have the 1090 ,1590 and michi m8.the michi is top quality stuff look for open box or used .read the reviews on m8 m5 integrated. class d is comming of age if you dont like heat or have room they are great.the fosi is a budget amp class d 300 watts mono direct from thier website frequently has 20 % off. Hegel is great integrated.my marantz av 10 is all class d.mcintosh mi502 class d 1kw in 4 ohm. I would not have a tec that says I'll look under the hood and change what I think is bad.there may be alot out of speck electronics and that's why is doesn't work.if you have an audio club or dealer you could listen to would be best

Toss the amp- not worth the money or effort to repair. The good news is you don't need much power to drive your GE speakers, they have powered woofers / subwoofers so your amp only needs to drive midrange and tweeter drivers- a very easy load.  Go for quality rather than power- depending on budget.  A Class A Pass Labs XA25 would sound amazing for example.
