Acoustic Energy Ae 500 speaker. Any experience?

I believe the line was originally sourced in Canada way back when. Then sold to someone but now recently required by a Brit company and back in the game. Thomas and Stereo did a nice review of their 509 stand mount and what I can read sounds good. The bookshelf AE500 uses the same mid/woof and tweeter as the larger 509 I believe. I think the US retailers require a restocking fee so that doesn't appeal. 
I remember having a pair of the old models thirty years ago and selling them to a friend. He was subsequently burglarized and really distressed that he couldn't find replacements. 

Reviving the dead here, but I'd love to know if anyone has compared these AE500s directly side by side to the Totem Sky speakers, about the same size and close enough in price. Anyone?

AE is one of those brands that flew way under the radar. I had their aesprit 300c speakers about 20 years ago. Very musical and enjoyable, zero fatigue but still presenting decent detail.
