Would like company.

I’m a friendly very young minded 86 year old (as you can determine by my posts here on A’gon. My problem is I’m not very mobile, great difficulty traveling,  I would love to share my company and high end system with a like minded person from this forum. I live in  Nassau county on Long Island.

Seems like this situation happens all over.  I live in Northern Ontario, 4 1//2 hours north of Toronto. Trust me, I can drive atleast another 4-5 hour straight north before the roads trend westward, simply because there are no more roads going north after that.
Even around here, very few audiophiles and most people don't seem to care about the hobby, don't understand it and just want more bass!

All I can suggest is take up a secondary hobby, such as cooking, and lure people over with the promise of a great meal, some wine and some music.

Okay. I’m in Suffolk out east a little. Perhaps during a break from work or summertime I can make it in. I have a break in February. Keep in touch

It is odd that this hobby can sometimes be a lonely experience. Other than some online forums and audio shows and events. However hearing beautiful music when it sounds so good is something everyone should experience. It is soul enriching and transcends some many issues of the day.

Those who are lucky enough to have a spouse, partner or friends nearby to share in the hobby are certainly lucky. Fortunate for me my wife enjoys music enough that we can enjoy it together. Now that she’s heard some really fine sound she’s starting to developed more of an appreciation of it and she’s always liked music. But some people don’t get that option.

That being said we moved to a new state and community about a year ago and it’s tough finding meaningful connections in the era of social media, which is a double-edged sword. I will say we’ve found some success in using the meetup app. You may be able to find an audiophile group on there in your area. Or even just a social or men’s group with people with similar passions where you can introduce them to fine sound.

I will also echo someone else’s post though to be careful where you post your invites. There are always bad actors online who would love to “befriend” a generous kind person with means and resources.
