So, what did you get yourself for the holidays?

My guess is that most of us are "hard to buy for". That said, I get my own presents.

Outside of audio, this holiday season I treated myself to a 3D printer (Bambu Lab P1S), a ZWO Seestar S50 smart telescope, and I will be ordering a PiFinder for my 20" telescope next week.

In the world of audio I upgraded my Rogue Cronus Magnum II to the III. I added the home theater feature so I can put a tube pre-amp between my DAC and the amp at a later date. And since they had the amp in the shop I added a processor loop in the event my hearing would benefit from additional processing in years to come. I'm a small spender for this group and I expect this is my ultimate amp. I will upgrade other components over time, but this is making me very happy right now. Besides, my astronomy hobby is where most of my extra money goes.

I've been playing the CR III for the past week and it is an amazing upgrade. It also helps that my backup amp was a major step down and since I hand delivered and picked up the amp I've been without the CM since October.

As far as the new amp goes, I love the triode mode and the phono pre-amp is noticeably improved. I'll test out the new headphone circuit in January, I don't use headphones often so I won't be able to weigh in on any improvement, just the end result.

So, what did you get for yourself?

Degritter II

A replacement DK Sonic, 10 quart US cleaner

Rekkids.....more rekkids

6 CDs and one record from MFSL while they were on sale at Thanksgiving.

A Supra power cord for my Simaudio Moon 260DT CD transport.  Amazing improvement in detail.

Magnus XLR cable and Optimus i2s (0.5m) cables from Veritas.  They turn out to be one of the best investment I’ve made.  My system now sounds smooth and liquid.

@fburkeen Congrats on the new eMTB (for the mind AND body IMO). I also got some new eMTB gear; a full face helmet, gel gloves and new brakes to be installed next week while waiting for the ground to dry out here in SoCal.

Music-wise, my wife got me a Tom Petty T-Shirt!

I got three Pink Floyd T shirts to replace my worn and tattered ones.  My wife and I didn’t spend much this year, just around $50 per person for six people.   I plan on taking my wife to DC in mid September, traveling on the Acela Express and staying in a 5 star hotel.  It will be a 5 or 6 day trip.  Audio wise, I plan on retubing my Mac preamp, probably going with Gold Lions 12AX7. I have owned the preamp since z January 2018 and am still using the McIntosh branded tubes.  The preamp is on 6 hours a day, every day for all that time so I assume the tubes are ready for replacement. I did add a pair of Gold Lion tubes for the MC cartridge a few years ago.  I also plan to send my Esoteric SACD PLAYER to TAP electronics to replace the tray belt.   I haven’t been able to use the player for the past 6 months.  That is all.
