At almost every level of spending, the speakers are going to have the most noticeable effect on your sound. After that, you are on to matching components and selecting specific features to improve the music you like best. If you are going to upgrade your amplifier, I think you will need to spend three times what the unit you presently have costs (or find a used unit that when new cost as much) in order to have a significant difference in sound. A sensible upgrade path might be speakers-->amplifier-->subwoofer. The turntable and cartridge would be the least likely to have much effect by upgrading.
Next upgrade to an entry-level system?
Currently my system consists of:
- AT-LP120 turntable (with the shibata stylus)
- A-S301 integrated amp
- RP-500M II speakers
- RSL 10e subwoofer
Also I have been gradually collecting better quality vinyl, such as the BPO original source series. What would be the best thing to upgrade next?
