Next upgrade to an entry-level system?

Currently my system consists of:

  • AT-LP120 turntable (with the shibata stylus)
  • A-S301 integrated amp
  • RP-500M II speakers
  • RSL 10e subwoofer

Also I have been gradually collecting better quality vinyl, such as the BPO original source series. What would be the best thing to upgrade next?

Keeping in step with the level of your setup, I'd look into an outboard phono stage such as this

Schiit Audio: Audio Products Made in USA

For $150, it will better the onboard phono of the amp.

Otherwise, I'd leave be and enjoy good pressings until ready to open the wallet WIDE.

The most votes you will get will be your speakers.

Generally, I'd say:

For a $1000 or $500 used, you can upgrade significantly for a KLH, Mission or Wharfedale speakers.

Next up is the amp. I don't know what pairs well with Yamaha. So maybe you can switch it up, figure out what speakers works with your amp FIRST. I am not a big fan of this Yamaha line

I would follow the advice @tablejockey has provided. New transducers will not be a great improvement and the 301 is a good integrated but has limitations. New transducers will probably bring this into sharp focus.  The RP-500s are a fun little speaker and are a good match for the 301. My son had a similar setup in college and it sounded great in his apartment.
