Hegel Viking sound

I just purchased a Hegel Viking CD player. I am breaking it in and at about 100 hours. It is vocal forward and the trebel is not bright but to close for my comfort. Looking for ideas to tame it.

I would suggest you continue on with the burn-in process for at least another 100 to 200 hours, as a completed burn-in process could make a significant difference in how the unit will ultimately sound, then reevaluate.  Happy listening.

At 100hrs it should start showing you what’s what. At 200hrs usually it will more or less settle.
What cables are you using and what is the rest of your system.

Critical listening starts at the 200 hours mark.  What other Gear and Cabling is in your system?

Merry Christmas

Many factors involved including your room which many try to "fix" with gear/cable changes. IMHO, cables can become expensive tone controls. CD players do have their own "flavor". Best sounding of the many I have owned was a Cary unit. Incredibly smooth and natural, beat my McIntosh unit IMHO...
