Best speakers for GaN1? Or should I change amps???

It’s been some time since I bought the Peachtree GaN1 + Bluesound Node combo.    Unfortunately, I’ve hardly used it, as I’ve been working away from home.   I have it paired with a little pair of Ruark Epilogue speakers + JL Audio Sub.    Sound isn’t great.

I’m looking for suggestions for the best speakers for the GaN1?

Or should I just move it on & start again?

Thanks

One of the downsides of the GaN1 is the lack of source options.    The Bluesound Node came with the GaN1.    I understand the weak point of the Node is the DAC, but the DAC is bypassed.    Not sure I want to spend big on streamer when I won’t get the benefit of a better DAC.

I think I started the wrong thread TBH.   I think the GaN1 has to go.

As @unsound said.

@singintheblues

A sensible plan might consist of auditioning speakers first until you hit a sound signature that pleases you. Then, audition amps until you hit one(s) that make your new speakers sing. Cap / fine-tune your end sound with a very good preamp. Once you are in possession of a core system whose sound satisfies you, you can see about optimizing / replacing your sources.

Audition the Peachtree with your new speakers, strictly in the interest of leaving no stone unturned.

Throwing amplifiers at speakers one doesn’t like is nonsense.

+1 @devinplombier - best to demo speakers to find what resonates subjectively with you

@singintheblues - seems you seeking a  “musical” type presentation. Harbeth is a good choice and Hegel is its good match. Try to demo Harbeth.

Are you open to tube electronics? Generally it’s typically more warm and engaging in the midrange, but frequency extremes and speed are often more limited than SS.  Also, may need highly efficient speakers if the tube amp power is lacking
