Mogami Neglex W2549

Anyone use the Mogami Neglex W2549 as either a balanced or unbalanced interconnect in their system? Curious to hear your opinions

I use Mogami Gold Studio Neglex Quad Mic Cable With Neutrik XLR Connectors those use the W2549 cable, for several interconnections including long runs, both for home and professional use. They are not cheap but well worth the money. I especially appreciate the low noise when compared to other cables. Very good EMI shielding. The sound is clear and perhaps slightly warm. I have tried cheaper and more expensive cables and always come back to these. YMMV!

Yes, I have been using W2549 in my main system interconnects (about 20 ft from preamp to amps) for at least 10 years, maybe longer. I recommend it.

During that time, only one boutique cable manufacturer was willing to send a pair that long on approval. I did single-blind tests with musicians, audiophiles, and a composer on the panel. The $2,500 cables went back quickly, as they were universally perceived as more colored than the Mogami (which, assembled with Neutrik gold XLRs, cost about $125 at the time).

I use Mogami Neglex W2549 Neutrik Rean/Profi to connect both DAC and phono stage to my Naim 282 preamp, slightly better to my ears than boutique cables like Witch Hat Morgana and TeddyPardo Koltura.

Fan of these cables since my studio engineer days. I use W2549 XLR cables for my phono amp to pre amp and output to my solid state amp. Have a SE pair for when I switch to my tube power amp. Great cables in my opinion. I recently needed a longer pair of SE and purchased from an online store called Castline if someone needs a source. They use their own gold plated connectors.

Okay, I’ll be the lone voice of dissent.

Mogami 2549 are decent cables in budget systems, but no more than that. Their sound is slightly smeared, and they have a slightly warm character. In my experience, they are not capable of reproducing subtle tonal differences, and have a rather monochrome presentation.

At a similar price level, for pro audio balanced cables, the Canare L-4E6 variants (particular the 4E6ATG at a slightly higher price) are IMO much better, and can compete with many high end cables.

For single ended cables, I much prefer Mogami 2497, which sounds faster, more detailed and more accurate to me.

For a little bit more again, but still reasonably priced, Furutech FA-aS22 is a much better cable than any of these.
