Heavy cart on Technics GR

I’ve had this issue since I bought the cart but now I’m determined to get it set right.

I’m running a Phasemation PP-500 on Phasemation’s top end shell on a Technics SL1200GR (early version).

when I go to level the arm, even with the heavy aux weight it still doesn’t float. The cart end seems too heavy for the counter and aux weight to float the arm. So I set them all the way back to be as close I can guess to be, but then when I zero the knob and then the knob and weight to 2 grams it’s o my .25 grams according to my scale.

I'm told these carts have been used by Technics at shows so clearly im not doing something right. Sounds good to me but I want to make sure im not mashing the cantilever and suspension.

@gochurchgo The technics arm is reviewed to be good and an upgrade would possibly require an arm board insert for a swap.  Origin Live has one, I believe, and their many levels of arms perform very well.

@drrsutliff  I agree. I am looking at either a 9” Glanz or FR64. I have an Armboard for  the Glanz. Mist likely I would go that route but also looking at Soraine, FR and possibly a Reed if one in my price range appeared.

Going back to your OP, when you set the OEM CW all the way to the rear and the arm doesn’t float, what VTF do you read on the LP using a digital scale and ignoring the gradations on the arm itself? Also, is the KAB CW designed for the original SL1200 tonearm or specifically for your G tonearm?
