Brand yes type yes (powered or not?)
New or used - Either is ok. I have had good luck with used from Audiogon members
Thanks for the AM Acoustics recommendation
Research for subwoofer
I have Bryston model T bookshelf speakers connected to a Luxman 509 that plays high res "Qbuz" music, jazz, pop, classical. ETC. I am considering agreeing a sub but would like some opinions of what might work well with this set up. The sub would have to go on the floor, could be powered or not. Would like to build more of a stage with additional bass.
Thoughts?
Thanks Dave
These two brands are vastly different. I think they both offer an easily returnable trial period. One is a sub-bass woofer that dramatically rolls off extra low frequency beginning within the 30Hz region to a barley audible -6dB and can be located most anywhere in a room. The other is rated -3dB in the low 20Hz region offering most all the low frequency on most any recording. Its performance will depend on placement within any of your rooms standing wave bass modes typically along a side wall. |
