The $250 power cables and $600 power strip that dethroned my $10k Shunyata Everest

Hello fellow audiophiles. I've been using products from QSA Lanedri who I believe offer the best price to performance ratio on the market today for their power and signal cables. You may have heard of Quantum Science Audio fuses and might even have some installed in your system. QSA Lanedri have perfected this technology/treatment and are now offering it in their power and signal products. The line of products in particular is called Veridion Discovery which is their most affordable line. I currently own 2 Veridion Discovery power strips (daisy chained), 8 power cables, 3 ethernet cables, 1 DC cable. Initially I was sent a power and ethernet cable to try and was so impressed I ordered more including the power strips. I have been comparing their power cables to much more expensive cables from Audioquest and Furutech. I've also been comparing their power strip to my Shunyata Everest power conditioner and found I prefer the Discovery power strip. Infact I'm in the process of trading in my Shunyata Everest and corresponding Sigma X power cable for either a better integrated amplifier or speakers. Once you pair up Discovery power cables with the Discovery power strip things improve dramatically. Not only does audio improve but picture quality and home cinema improves also and will challenge anything at any price. I will say the Discovery line requires a few days of continuous use or "burn in" period before proper evaluation. I compared their Ethernet cables to the likes of Audioquest Diamond and Wireworld Platinum Starlight 8 and again preferred the Discovery line. Through the Discovery products music sounds cleaner and clearer with a heightened sense of realism. This also applies to film and TV. Compared to the Shunyata Everest picture quality is now cleaner with more vibrant colours. Motion and panning shots are improved with less stutter. I will add that I have the power strips on Auva EQ CSA1 isolation footers. All of my equipment is sitting on Auva EQ footers which I found were better than the Isoacoustic Oreo footers I had previously. The Discovery products look very basic and don't scream high end but from my experience they can go toe to toe with the best at very affordable prices! They offer a 30 day money back guarantee for peace of mind. Definitely worth a look. Cheers.

Or it could be about tone and intent of a post.  It can be a fine line between skepticism and belligerence. Being a mod can be a thankless job especially when navigating situations like that. For me, it can be as simple as whether the comment was about a person or about a product.  "I believe these cables to be snake oil" should be fine.  It is an opinion about a these products or even a shop.  "I believe the OP is fake account just trying to push products" is an attack on the person.  Now, you may in fact be correct but the mods have no way to easily confirm that and for the health of the forum, have to take stands against language such as that.

As for the actual cables, I have been looking at this thread the last few days and I agree that it does seem a bit odd. The pictures and descriptions on the seller's site don't seem quite right.  When most manufacturers are putting out an upgraded cable, the tend to make them visually different.  They go braided and usually with more insulation if not thicker wires.  There are functional reasons for this not to mention it gives the purchaser the feeling they are getting something more (even if it is an illusion).  So, yeah, it is tough to believe this plain looking cable with a treatment is going to justify that significant cost increase over the basic cables. I updated a while back with these (based on a post from a few years ago on this site). I did notice a small difference, especially with some consistency at higher volumes.  And these aren't even close to the levels that some folks pay for their cables. Now having someone such as WillGolf say that he has them and found them to be better than what he was using does cause me to take more notice.  Because of that I am considering trying one.

@ddonnight

I have always tried to be respectful in my comments, and I agree with your sentiment.  Hopefully, unless someone has a specific question about my experiences with QSA Lanedri, I will back off from making further comments after this one.

Many brands make big claims in this hobby.  Most talk the talk, but how many would go into a show like Axpona, demonstrate their product against another, and offer a money-back guarantee if you did not like it?  It goes without saying that you won't like every speaker, amp, or cable at a show.  But if I owned an audio company, I surely would not be demonstrating my product if I did not think it would show well.  And if you are Mark Sablon ( Sablon Audio), a trusted and very good Company, why would you lend your own cables with a QSA Lanedri treatment?   Lastly, there is a YouTube video of a Company that has measured and tested over 30 different brands, including the  QSA Lanedri Ultimatum Infinity Line, which I have. The Gamma and Ultimatum lines have been selling for over 3 years, so this is not a brand-new startup, and they have hundreds of happy customers.  The point I am trying to make is that QSA Lanedri is not a scam company.

If QSA Lanedri does not fall within your comfort zone in trying new products, that is completely fine. Not everyone likes to experiment, and no one is forcing you to.  Before I got my dream system, I was always experimenting with new products or tweaks.  Now I am happy where I am.

The Discovery series was launched so that people can try out a product only costing $250 with a money-back guarantee.  This cable may not be as good as what you have.  I am in no way, shape, or form guaranteeing that.  But what would happen if, after trying the Discovery series, you determined it was as good, or maybe better, than the $1k or $2k cable you love?

What is harder to understand is repeatedly declaring the brand a scam without even trying it.  The Industry has conditioned us to believe that meaningful performance can only come from exotic materials and high-priced tags.  The result is that our mindset is naturally resistant to believing that anything less costly or affordable can challenge the status quo.  In the end, Resistance is natural when a company like QSA Lanedri disrupts the established narrative.

Skepticism is healthy.  Dismissing without listening or trying is not.  At some point, the only meaningful evaluation is first-hand experience.

I have said my peace, and it's time for me to go and enjoy the music.  Thanks for listening.

Such an amusing thread... I will not make judgement on something that I've never heard for myself.  But I wonder if these guys would be willing to treat our existing cables with their secret sauce for, say $245?  They clearly don't need to disassemble the cables or treat bare wires, etc.  From their marketing, they seem incredibly confident that we'd all easily hear the improvements of this Quantum sauce.

Well this thread went exactly like I expected it to.

@rx8man

Discovery for $250.00, then the Gamma jumps to $4000.00??

What is so different to warrant that much of an increase??

The Gamma is a Iconoclast/Belden BAV power cord they apply their "technology" on. They tested various power cables and apparently this was the one that was the most receptive to the Veridion technology (secret sauce). With the exception of their top products they don’t make any cables, they just apply their technology to existing cables. Their midline cable start as stock 4K Sablon cables, they treat it and charge 12k for it. The more the material used, the higher the cost, this is why the ultimatum cables are the most massive and the most expensive.

https://www.iconoclastcable.com/bav/index.htm

From what I understand this $250 Monoprice cable is offered at a discount to get people in the door so to speak in the hopes they realize the improvements and upgrade to a more profitable product.

@audiom3

But I wonder if these guys would be willing to treat our existing cables with their secret sauce for, say $245?

They have tested many cables, and certain ones are more receptive to the secret sauce, and from what I have read the purest and what we believe to be the "best" metals like OCC are the least receptive to soaking up the sauce.

From their marketing, they seem incredibly confident that we’d all easily hear the improvements of this Quantum sauce.

Yes, they are confident as there is a money back guarantee, but everyone seems worried to actually try the product. Instead they would rather claim to "know" these cables are a scam. Shunyata "zaps" their cables with serious voltage for 4 days, so does Synergistic Research apply a massive voltage to condition them before shipping them to the consumer. My Zavfino Silver Darts? Same thing. Who knows what QSA are doing.

Where have some of you people been? These are not brand new products, I am certainly not in the market for 22K speaker cables, but many people are, and none of them post in Audiogon, and this thread is the reason why. Here is review of them from over 2 years ago: https://www.stereotimes.com/post/qsa-lanedri-infinity-series-ultimatum-speaker-cables/ he preferred them over his Hemingway Z Cores. Hey, maybe they sound better than Transparent Opus and Nordost Odin’s, what do you have against them? I can tell you there are many audiophiles on WBF whose opinions I trust, and they are not idiots or allow themselves to be scammed. Many of them have deeper pockets and are able to try many products and we learn from their experiences, personally as much as reviewers, who are more biased as there is money to be made. If they try a product and it is good they let people know, they share the word, that is what is happening on this thread.

I sure as hell am not buying a 12K "plug-in-thingee" but I am not going to dismiss some guy with deeper pockets than I who tried it and claims it improved the sound. Good for him (or her, why do we always assume they are male?).

But for $250 for a power cable guaranteed to sound better than your $2k _____ with a money back guarantee, what do you have to lose? shipping costs, but at least you now would have a valid post to enlighten us, not useless crap.

Related: I just put in a 10ga dedicated line in my new room, and before getting the new breaker I removed my Furutech GTX outlet I had been using into the new line and put in a "regular" one and didn’t want to wait, so I plugged my Shunyata and everything else into the regular outlet to listen or a day. I could not believe how bad it sounded! Many of you reading this have come to accept audiophile outlets, and have them, but maybe 5, 10, or 20 years ago you thought the same thing as this thread with its "voodoo quantum treatment cable" : Ridiculous! Snake oil! I agree, I was one of them. It makes no sense. None at all. How could 14 microns of rhodium over copper change the sound so drastically over brass? Dunno, but I hear the difference and am not going back.

We don’t know what we don’t know.

Good for you guys @willgolf @roper for sticking your necks out, having thick skin and telling us your experiences. Like many cable threads here at Audiogon they are filled with posts from people with the least amount of experience with cables. Or none at all- you know, the experts.
