FedEx shipping damage

I recently sold my KEF R11’s shipped in original boxes & packaging to UT. Somewhere along the way they sustained significant damage arriving at the buyers home with significant damage to the boxes resulting in several corners of speakers being badly dented, although they seem to work (amazingly).
I over insured (double sell) in case one was lost or damaged as the pair would then be useless… never thought it could happen to both.

I submitted a FedEx claim, with damage pictures & other supporting information & consider the speakers totaled. 7-14 days for FedEx resolution.

I have never experienced this issue, so I am asking for any ‘got ya’, anything to watch out for, or any other recommendations to bring this to a favorable solution. Thank you.

Not sure if this mentioned but I always take detailed photos of packaging  before the box is sealed.

Do let us know how this turns out.

The "Got Cha" I ran into with a UPS claim on a damaged pair of Magenpan LRS I sold for $750 and had insured for $1000 was that they don't pay out for more than you sold them for apparently, even though I was insuring based on having to buy a new pair if the used ones were damaged. I ended up getting the $750 eventually but it was a struggle.

I had a similar experience to others.  Shipped two speakers this summer.  Had FedEx pack them.  Arrived with one corner crushed on one speaker and the tweeter crushed on the other.  Took at least 5 weeks to get reimbursed from FedEx and numerous emails.  I had reimbursed the buyer.  I had taken pics before shipping.  The buyer took pics of the shipping boxes and speakers.  I found the whole experience to indicate poor customer service. Their online claim system was a disaster and non-user friendly.  For speakers, ,I don’t think I would ship them in boxes in the future, but would use pallets. I have bought two things shipped on pallets (floor standing speakers and a heavy amp) without any problem.

I have already reimbursed the buyer… the right thing to do in my mind.
Even though I over insured the speakers, I would be happy to be reimbursed at sell with a credit for shipping charges.
We shall see.

I have my fair share of horror stories with shipping as well. But I would not predict gloom and doom before any meaningful correspondence with FedEx. I found Amazon and UPS deliveries and communication unpredictable and chaotic but fairly reliable and pleasant with FedEx. I hope they will make it quick and easy for you.
