Do you use one brand of electronics or are you mixing brands what has worked best for you?

Mixing different brands doesn't matter.  Sure, there are situations where there might be some issue, but for the most part, no.  I remember years ago, a Linn/Naim rep visiting a local dealer told me it was never a good idea to run a wide bandwidth preamp into, I guess, a narrow or narrower bandwidth amplifier; some instability issue, I recall.  Yet the dealer ran a Spectral ultra-wideband preamp(into the meagahertz) into an Audio Research tube amplifier with spectacular results.

@lanx0003 in my system it definitely has a sound that I prefer through out my system.  Open detailed with low noise floor and nice soundstage and placement with an ever so slight bit of warmth. We all have sounds we prefer and your equipment have to give it to you 

I did buy a used audio research cd 9 and love it.  I got all my stuff at the animal rescue shelter so it's a mix and match a mutt so to say and enjoy the experiments of matching gain ,impedance, wire gauge ect. I like tube preamp vtl 7.5 mcintosh 12000 to solid state big monoblock amps. Yes mcintosh is a one stop shop like audio research but the do make high end speakers, while many don't like the sound of mac i bought it all used and had fun going across America and picking it up meeting audiophile along the way. From VA to Cali and some interesting motels in between. Enjoy the music and the synergy.
