Speaker for 300b amp?

What have you tried and what are you using?

I'm thinking of a single 300b per channel.

Prefer recommendations for current production speakers, not vintage unobtaniums.

Lastly, what is it you like about your combination?

For the past three years I’ve been using modified Cornwall IV with my 8w Luxman MQ-300. I have to say, I think they sound marvelous together. The stock Cornwalls are a little tipped up and harsh. Doing the capacitor mods that Don Sachs detailed in some posts on this site (you can search) improves them a lot. I also upgraded the binding posts and covered the horns with Dynamat. I really have no desire to find another high-eff speaker for this amp.

For context, I have several other speaker/amp combinations that I swap in and out of my main system. Although these Klipsch are by far the least expensive of  the speakers, while I’m listening to them with the Luxman, they are my favorites. Of course, I say that about all the combos when they’re playing :). The point is they can punch way above their weight with some fairly simple mods and a good 300B amp.

Benign impedance across the frequency spectrum and good sensitivity required. It‘d help to know the size of your room.

Charney Companion. I listened to quite a few high efficiency speakers before (and after) choosing these and I have no regrets.

Give the GoldenEar Triton 1r a try. They have a sensitivity of 92db and each speaker has a 2000w class D amp to handle the base making it easy to drive with low powered amps.
