Is Jay making a mistake? Amazing sound room being created

I have to applaud jay's initiative. His latest video portrays him under critical assault and I think this is so wrong. He is resting comfortably on his estate in front of an incredible pool. He has found his paradise and living the dream.

He is doing lots of videos on his sound room build and a recent video on the electrical System is fascinating.  So many really cool ideas such as eight gauge wire, insulating conduits for the wire, and a completely copper electrical panel box which will probably turn green.

He is also planning a separate powerline from the street pole to his separate structure for the sound rooms. He sites many people criticizing him for digging a trench but how else are you gonna do it.   Why not do lots of solar panels and create your own power and be really quiet. It's the same electric company so how do you solve that noisy problem. Why not produce your own power with a PS audio Power generating device thingy.

I can't wait to see the system components? Maybe by Christmas.  And will he have a solid state room and a tube room. Will he have two YT channels, one for each room.  Why would someone have two rooms. Twice as much fun

He has a nice attic space to Store all the boxes. Where are you going to store all the components and I suspect that second room will probably end up being a Storage room. You need lots of space for boxes and components and inventory and I didn't see any bathrooms but it's out in the middle of nowhere.  people can take care of things in the great outdoors.

I hope he invites me to his next barbecue. I don't know too many people with nice pools.  I didn't realize Texas has so many trees I thought it was all desert with lots of flooding.

I don't have any great insights into his sound room, but I've heard him speak about his income. He's said that he makes very little on YouTube videos and he make money selling gear. I believe he's said he buys the gear he shows on his channel. Whether he gets "accommodation pricing" or other breaks, I don't know.

I find his channel interesting because he shows gear you don't see that often on YouTube. I don't consider his opinion to necessarily be any more educated than anyone else, but I find it interesting. On the other hand, I dont find his construction videos interesting, but each to their own.

Don’t have much to say about Jay, don’t know the man, though I do believe he’s a veteran, grateful for that.  I will second his use of Jordan at ASC.  Jordan helped with my room, and I have nothing but good things to say about the experience.  I’ll add though, if you use their damp it product, you have to let it air out.  Knowing what I know now, I’d let the room sit for a couple weeks, prior to primer and paint.

A recent Hifi Five podcast discussed his business model. He flips used gear, and also gets some new gear from mfr's to review and sell. He vows that he has never accepted equipment for free in return for a review. I would assume that he gets a dramatic discount though. He appears to be shrewd and self confident in business, so he has figured out his margins. Based on the podcast, he gets some of his gear as demos of high end pieces owned by  dealers that were either demos or unsold merchandise. He can then promote the pieces on his channel to reach/motivate buyers that a regular dealer cannot. Think of a boutique TMR. Nothing wrong with this. There is inherent conflict of interest, but no more so than any other dealer. He certainly isn't going to buy a piece and give it a negative review. You would have to go in with the faith that he wouldn't buy/sell gear that he doesn't like, and that you share the same taste. Or, at least be able to listen to yourself. Based on where his contractor is based, his location appears to be between Houston and Dallas. I'm not a big fan, but his shrewdness and ability to create an influencer status and business model are notable.

He finished  drywall stage in one of the rooms and not sure how he is going to get rid of a tremendous amount of echo. I built a purpose blt room and had virtually no echo when finished at the drywall stage. He should have blt in some deflection in the original plans.
He will have as much money in treatments as the room build and the room will be dead with no life by the time he is finished.
